Our little sunshine has turned ONE!

          April 27, 2012 was the first day of the rest of my life. That was the day that life, as I  knew it, would never be the same. I brought my little Mia into my world, and what a brighter world it has become because of her. She lights it up with the slightest of ease and I think that’s pretty impressive. This past year has been full of firsts, full of what-the-heck-am-I-doing’s, full of awe, full of pride {Read More}

Sunshine Birthday Invitations {Handmade}

Mia’s 1st birthday is in 3 weeks! Turn the stress dial up one more notch. I’ve already ordered all (I hope it’s all we need) of the decorations and balloons. I’ve never decorated our home and yard for a party…especially for a party with such a big amount of people. I’m not really sure how to organize it all and how many tables and balloons and decorations I’m going to need so I’ll be wingin’ it. I’m still taking advantage {Read More}

Our First A-Frame Tent Is Complete

     As some of you already know, I’m in the process of making and creating some handmade items to sell on my Etsy shop (that is currently empty). One of the items that I’m most excited about is an A-frame play tent for kids. I first saw one of these on one of my favorite blogs, The Daybook. Etsy Store Update: Branch Coasters

Hey kids, happy Friday! Here’s a little sneak peek into what my little Etsy store elves (hubby & I) are currently working on… Cool, right? Please, tell me what you think. I’m thinkin’ they’re very Anthropologie-esque. We’re still testing out different staining, priming and glossing techniques to get the best quality product. But, I LOVE them! Yes, these have been hand cut, sanded and primed. They’ll be sold in sets but the price is still undecided.  I brought a set {Read More}

DIY: Glitter Deer Head Portrait

Typically, a silhouette of a figure is its outline filled in with black. Here’s a fun, shimmery twist on how to make a silhouette or portrait using….GLITTER! Usually, I’m not a big an of the stuff. Being an art teacher, I’ve crossed paths with glitter from time to time over the years. I’m still finding pieces of it in places I won’t mention. I don’t know if you knew this, but glitter is the herpes of the crafting world…one encounter {Read More}

DIY: Hand Sewn & Stuffed Turtles

I recently came across a clearly cute DIY project at Make It & Love It, which I later made and loved. Stuffed Fabric Turtles! Check out that link if you’re interested in making one for yourself. Theirs are much cuter than mine, being that this is the first stuffed anything (besides a quilt) that I’ve made. I just used some old scraps of fabric that I had leftover from Mia’s Halloween Owl costume that I had made. I didn’t put {Read More}
