33 Weeks Pregnant {Pineapple}

Good heavens, I’ve felt every bit of week 33 !  Mia…we’re officially cramping each others’ style, gf.

(Average baby measurements: 17 inches, 4.25 pounds)

  •  I attended 3 (that’s THREE) parties all on the same day.  1) Dominic’s cousin’s son’s 5th birthday at the park  2) My very own surprise baby shower *for co-workers.* (A separate and more detailed post, coming soon). Thank you to my great friends, Kasia and Nichole, for loving me enough to give me such a special day.  3) My brother’s 27th birthday at a lounge in Studio City.  Whew…what an eventful, exciting and tiring day…but in an awesome kind of way.

A sneak peek of my surprise baby shower...more to come

  • I laughed, giggled, chuckled and tee-hee’d for at least 5 minutes straight.  The reason?  Dominic left to the store for some sausage (what’s a Sunday morning breakfast without it) and came back with an additional treat for ME!  A glazed and chocolate frosted doughnut!!!!!!  Every time we pass a bakery/doughnut store, I say aloud, “Doughnut.”  I’ve been craving one for weeks.  I couldn’t have been happier.  I savored every bite.  Thank you, Dominic…aka Doughnut Angel!
  • House update:  Dominic and I were FINALLY able to see the interior of our future home!  Who the heck agrees to rent a house for a year without ever seeing the inside?  Boggles my mind…but we did.  Oh the anticipation was in full gear.  My parents went with us, too.  I think they wanted to see this “house” that we speak of with their own eyes…the proof that they’re daughter is finally moving out of their house.  Well, we all loved it.  It’s on a cul-de-sac in an area we both had hoped to live in.  The neighborhood is quiet.  There’s a swimming pool in the middle of a great big yard.  The inside is spacious.  The kitchen is big and we like to cook.  The house and yard definitely have many areas that, in our eyes, need some tweaking.  The owner has given us the green light to make any adjustments to the house that we’d like…to treat it like it’s our own.  If it increases the house’s value, he’ll consider paying for it.  We love projects!  Our list of them is going to fill up the rest of 2012 and I couldn’t be happier about that.  Dominic later told me that he was apprehensive to see the house, worried that it wouldn’t be all that I had hoped.  He wants me to be happy.  How sweet it is, to be loved by you.  Here’s a sneak peek of more house pictures soon to come…

From our back door, looking in

I can almost smell our future homecooked meals

First time looking forward to warm/hot nights!

  • I discovered the wondrous world of IKEA! (A separate and more detailed IKEA post, coming soon)  How doooooo they do it?!  Yes, I’ve been there before, but it was when I was a kid and my mom dragged me there on one of her errands.  I wasn’t pricing items in my head, searching for deals.  I was counting down the minutes until we could finally leave.  This particular trip with my mom was very different.  The prices are incredible!  A 16-piece set of dishes for only $20?  I understand, it’s not top quality stuff, but I’m not planning on saving my IKEA goodies to pass down to my children or anything.  We found some great deals.  I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
  • We had another doctor’s appointment.  This was the first one that Dominic didn’t come to.  He got caught up with work.  It’s been really important to him to be a part of everything “baby” so far.  Mia’s lucky to have such an involved and caring daddy.  So, the doc and I just listened to Mia’s loud and strong heart beat.  Also, I’ve gained a total of 23 pounds.  Our next appointment (in 2 weeks) will involve an ultrasound!  It’s been a while since I’ve seen the little sprout.
  • Lamaze class (3rd one, now) was great again.  We went over more helpful breathing techniques to get through labor.  I was spared the sight of another child birth.  Thank you.
  • How’s mommy doing?  Nothing major to complain about.  Overall I’m doing great.  I’ve just got the typical and expected pregnant issues.
  • Mia is playing hide-and-seek in my ribs, I think.  I tried getting into my car one morning and as I sat in the seat, I felt a pain shoot through my right ribs.  I felt around and sure enough, I found a lump.  A baby lump.
  •   She’s been making it very difficult for me to sit in one position for too long.  I can’t stand on my feet for too long without having my bloated, water-retaining feet start to throb.  My lower back is sore.
  • I got a few more helpings of Restless Leg Syndrome this week while I was supposed to be sleeping.  I’m easily winded…even from talking too much.
  • I might as well hang out in the bathroom since potty breaks are getting more frequent.
  • My belly is itchy.
  • My baby moves SO MUCH!  My tummy is always twitching, thumping and making waves.
  • A few co-workers got to see her during a case of the hiccups, and two of them got to feel a good kick or nudge from her, too.  Show off.

My phone’s BabyBump app says, “Over the next 4 weeks your baby will put on another half pound per week.  This rapid weight gain will slow by next month.  The skeleton is also hardening although the bones in her skull will not fuse together completely, but will overlap allowing for continued growth all the way up until early adulthood.

This month your body will still gain about a pound a week.  You might find the extra weight makes it hard for you to get comfortable or sleep and you’ll likely feel more tired this month than the previous.  The extra fluid your body is retaining might also cause aching and numbness in your extremities; remember to stretch and rest frequently.”
