37 Weeks Pregnant {Swiss Chard}

A big high-five to Mamma & Mia for making it to 37 weeks…full term!

(Average Measurements: 19.25 inches, 6.3 pounds)

No table needed for my nightly ice cream treat :)

  • Read He “bought the cow” to see how we ended week 36 and entered into week 37.  I’ll give you a hint…I have a new last name.
  • The day after we returned home from our little trip, we were brought back to reality with a little house problem.  Our first, together.  Now don’t ask me the exact details on what happened, all I know is that water mixed with some brown gunk was coming up from the shared bathroom’s shower drain.  Yuck.  We figured out that when we flushed our toilets, the water rose a bit higher.    The problem was addressed the very next morning, bright and early.  Nothing to lose sleep over.
  • My husband and I ate dinner twice at my mom’s house this week.  She’s an excellent cook.  Meal #1) Beef Stew.  Meal #2) Chile Verde, arroz y frijoles.  Thanks, Mom!  Your dinners are the best.  So good, in fact, that I’m constantly reminded that I need to learn to make these favorite dishes for my own family now.
  • I got my tax return in the mail!  Yessssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!  My mailman was the person I looked forward to seeing the most each day.  Now, it’s back to my husband.  This check will be a big help during my maternity leave from work.
  • We started letting Rancho sleep outside of his crate at night.  The crate is in our bedroom and we kept him in there overnight so he wouldn’t tear up the house, our room, or potty everywhere.  He’s such a good, smart dog.  He sleeps fine through the night and doesn’t potty until I get up in the morning for work (at 6am) and let him outside.  Good boy!

This is how Rancho tends to fall asleep. He passes out this way.

  • Product review:  I absolutely LOVE Chicken Pot Pie from Trader Joe’s.  They come individually in a box, frozen.  They take 60 minutes to bake.  They are much better than Marie Calendar’s Pot Pies.  I always have these tasty meals in my freezer.
  • My mom has continued to help us out by doing our laundry for us.  We still don’t have a washing machine, but are keeping our eyes open for a cheap/used one.  Thanks, Mom…again.
  • We had another doctor’s appointment.  They did some sort of “Strep swab”…down there.  We listened to Mia’s heartbeat again, which sounds strong.  As soon as we did, she got the hiccups.  Now we’ll be seeing our doctor weekly!  Almost there…
  • Dominic and my friends, Reno & Ryan and their 6 week old baby, came to our house for a little visit.  Oh man babies are so cute.  Earlier in the week another friend, Jenna, came to visit us with her little girl who is about the same age.  I still can’t believe we’re going to have one of those soon.
  • Momma’s been getting bigger, as expected.  My hands and feet are so fat!  Well, my feet get fatter by the end of the day from being on my feet at work.  It’s a lot harder for me to get up after sitting for a while.  I feel like an old lady.  I try to stand and my bones and muscles are tense and it takes a minute for me to fully stand straight.  Other than that, I’ve been doing great.  Nothing major to complain about, just the usual and expected stuff.
  • I have ONE MORE WEEK of work left!  Oh man, I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for this.  It’s SO DANG HARD for me to get up at 6am every week day and get ready for work, then work an 8 hour day with kids before returning home.  What an energy sucker!  I can’t wait to finally be able to relax and move when I want to move.  I’m really looking forward to spending my final 2 weeks before her due date (if Mia lets me have 2 weeks, I should say) getting her room organized (her stuff is all over the place) and getting all of OUR stuff in the house organized.  I want to nest.  Dominic even referred to me as his “little bird” the other night because I said my “goodnight” before heading to bed and he finds me deep in my closet, organizing, about 30 minutes later.  I would have stayed in there longer had he not put me to bed.
  • Oh, I have a question for anyone who can help me.  Now that I’m married, what’s the next step?  I need to request a copy of my marriage license, that I know.  I haven’t actually started signing my name with Dominic’s last name yet, because I’m not sure that I exist yet and I don’t want to confuse anyone.  I haven’t changed my last name on ANYTHING yet.  Can I start calling companies to let them know?  Or will I need the license as proof, first?  Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks.

My BabyBump phone app says, “This week your baby is now considered full term.  That means all of your baby’s organs should be fully developed and prepared for the outside world.  If you’re having a boy it’s likely he’ll weigh more at birth than a girl of the same gestation age.  Just weeks away from your due date it’s normal to feel tired of being pregnant and anxious for delivery.  You might experience a process called lightening, when your baby drops down into your birth canal.  This doesn’t happen to everyone, but if it does you may notice more room in your abdomen and easier breathing.  However, in return you’ll feel more pressure in your pelvis and on your bladder which can be generally more uncomfortable.”

  1. You are too cute momma, the belly comes in handy! Gotta change your social security & driver's license before you can legally sign Mrs. Carone. Most companies e.g: banks, credit cards, cell phone companies require a copy of your marriage license or driver's license. Make sure to tell your bank to also keep Ragsdale on your account when you change to Carone so you are able to still cash/deposit anything that may come in the future with your maiden name :)

  2. Gotta get your marriage license first. Then you have to go to Social Security and get a new SS card. Then you can go to the DMV to get a new license (Make an appointment!!). You can change some of your stuff (credit cards, insurance etc…) w/ just your marriage license but some will require the marriage license and your new drivers license (bank accounts). Most stuff can be changed within 3 months but it took me about 6 months to be able to change everything. For awhile you'll have a dual identity so keep your old ID in your wallet too once you get the new one… 3 more weeks!! Enjoy your sleep and your freedom!!

    • What a pain in the butt. Thanks for the advice. So far, all I've done is get my marriage request notarized…now I gotta fax the request to receive it in the mail.

  3. Check out imamrs.com. Love your blog! :))
