The 52 Project 2014: 14/52

the 52 project2“A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2014. My goal for the year: highlight her most recently acquired and/or favorite skill, activity, or milestone, in hopes to document her blossoming personality and mind as well as her physical appearance. ” See my series HERE.

14 week 2014

Mia: The Explorer.

We spent the last 5 days in Big Bear, where Mia explored the wilderness. Exploring, discovering and observing is her game, especially in the great outdoors. She’s a nature lover (like her parents) and she’s not afraid to get dirty (more like her Daddy).

On this particular stroll through the woods (the backyard of where we stayed) we inspected pine cones for any edible pine nuts, studied rocks, observed the endless amount of pine trees, and Mia climbed up onto her first fallen (more like cut down) tree.

We were hoping we’d experience her first snow fall, but it wasn’t cold or wet enough for that. She did find a few leftover snow clumps that remained from the snow that hit before we arrived (of course). It was cold enough, however, to keep us inside the cabin for most of our trip. But just like the dogs, Mia wanted outside as often as we’d let her. It’s tough to say “no” to such a cute, “please” saying toddler and I’m glad it is. Sometimes I need the motivation to get outside and unplug.

Okay now just for fun, this is the portrait from last year’s week 14 in 2013.

14 week 2013

Like last year, each of my weekly posts will include the following list of my favorite few portraits from the week prior at Practising Simplicity’s linkup. You can check out the rest of the entries from week 13 here.

  • Family.Holloh: I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: I’m a SUCKER for cute little baby bums!
  • From Lebo With Love: Oh how my daughter loves to collect my nail polish as well (and pretty much anything that Mommy uses).
  • Red Cat Inn: And the great shots keep coming in each week from this one. LOVE the angle, lighting and daddy daughter tosses.
  • Oh Hey Baby: Such a classic image of a little, learning to be big.
