The 52 Project 2014: 42/52

the 52 project2“A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2014. My goal for the year: highlight her most recently acquired and/or favorite skill, activity, or milestone, in hopes to document her blossoming personality and mind as well as her physical appearance. ” See my series HERE.

42 week 2014

Still playing catch-up to complete this weekly portrait project. 10 more to go, kids!

This was yet another phone photo (and is on my Instagram feed) of Mia after an afternoon at preschool, wearing her spider-hat she made. She comes home with so many art projects and crafts, especially when a holiday is near. I love how proud she is of each and every creation. This is the first year that she’s understanding (to a certain extent) the excitement of the holidays and she’s associating certain ideas and concepts along with them. Around Halloween, she’d talk all day and every day about witches, pumpkins, ghosts, trick-or-treating, candy and the costumes that Mommy was making for our family. We created a countdown to Halloween when she’d get to trick-or-treat and I prepped her everyday with what she’d need to do to get that candy. I made sure she was as mentally prepared for that night as she could be so she wouldn’t freak out from all of the costumes and spooky houses. I’ll be going into a little more detail of Halloween night in the next post or two.

Oh, and btw…to this day she still asks about ghosts and always tells me there’s a ghost in her room leftover from Halloween. But then within minutes she changes her story to a “gorilla” in her room or some other random animal. So I’m not too disturbed by the whole ghost thing just yet.

Okay now just for fun, here is the portrait from last year’s week 42 in 2013. Need I say more?

  1. Love it! You inspired me to rejoin this year. I skipped out last year because I had so much going on. I just edited my last post to include it. :)

    • Whoa! I meant to post this on your latest one (the first of 2015). Not sure how it ended up on this post!

    • Fan-flippin’-tastic! LOVE that! I’m looking forward to seeing them each week. I actually just saw your latest and saw that you’re adding portraits from the same week but in previous years. I did that with my last series and debated whether or not to do it again. I’ve already posted 2 for 2015 and didn’t include past pics but still thinking I should! Ugh :)

  2. Bahahahah both this and last year’s photos are adorable
