Bump Update // 36 Weeks

This past week has been mostly work and less play for me. I’ve been really feeling pressed for time, to get everything around the house tweaked, uncluttered, assembled and prepped for baby’s arrival. If we’re talkin’ due date, then I’ve still got 4 weeks left to get everything done. But…everyone keeps telling me how they think this kid is coming early so the pressure is on! Yes, I move a lot slower and I can’t actually get a full day’s work put in but I’ve been working around the house every minute that I physically can. Then I’m told, “Hey, take it easy! All of this work is going to put you into early labor.” My response is always, “This shit ain’t gonna clean/organize/pick up/assemble itself. Somebody’s gotta do it.”

So what have I accomplished? Well my first step in organization was to literally write out everything I need to get done in check-box/list style. I listed every room in the house in a notebook, and under each room’s headline I listed each chore that I need to complete in that room. This equals to be a few pages worth of work, people. And the crazy thing is, most of this list will need to be repeated should the baby come close to the due date. I’m kidding myself if I think everything will stay perfect for the next 4 weeks. But I figure if I do a good job now, then everything should only need a light wipe down or pick up in a few weeks from now. Why am I even getting clean crazy in the first place? Well, my house is usually in some form of disarray (and has been even more so since I’ve been pregnant) and I really just hate the thought of returning from a clean and mess-free hospital to my jumbled up house with my new baby. If I can do anything now to ease any kind of stress I could face upon my return, I’m going to do it. I want to feel as relaxed as possible. Also, my mom will be staying with us for a week or so and she’s a clean fanatic. I know she’d appreciate staying in a cleaner home and I also want her to help me as much as she can with Mia and the baby and possibly cooking…rather than cleaning my house from top to bottom (which she will do if I don’t do it now).

I’ve pretty much tackled something on my list in each room, but I’m probably only about half way done. I may be waddling and dragging my feet at times through my list, but I’m getting shit done. I was actually worried last week that my nesting bug was nowhere to be found since I could mostly be found on the couch with my feet up. But oh it’s here now in full force and I’m milking it for as long as I can. I can already sleep a little easier each night, knowing that I’m accomplishing my goals.

silhouette Collage2If you’ve been following along lately, then my photo for this week’s update should look familiar to you. That’s because I took the same shot of my belly 5 weeks ago. I think a silhouette is such a great way to really see the progression of a pregnant belly so I decided to do it again, just to see how much I (and baby) have grown. Crazy, right? And like I said…according to my due date I’ve still got 4 weeks to go! I’ll probably do this shot again in a few weeks. Pregnancy totally blows my mind.

  1. These are awesome pictures. Wish I’d thought to do the silhouette thing. I could have handled that. No way way could I have done a “normal” pic. lol

Congratulations on nesting. I have three kids and I don’t think I ever experienced that, unfortunately. ;)

    • Thanks Abby! Tell me about it, these photos are so much easier and “flaw friendlier” than your average photo. And 3 kids, kuddos to you! Thanks for the comment.

  2. Your belly really has grown!!!!!! You look so so tiny in these silhouettes!

    • Oh my gosh, tell me about it! Belly feels so tight. And that’s what I love about these silhouettes, you can’t see my sausage fingers and soft arms or together thighs :)

  3. Love these photos! Such a perfect spot to take your silhouette images, You are almost there-congrats!

    • Thanks, Jordan. Perfect way to capture the bump for those who aren’t all that comfy in front of a camera. Don’t have to smile.

  4. oh so gorgeous, misty! happy to hear that you’ve reached that super-productivity mode, too. enjoy it while it lasts. i’m so pleased with everything that nesting helped me to accomplish. unfortunately, my “buzz” is long gone now, but it was wonderful while it lasted. :) hope that you’re feeling well today.

    • Thanks so much, Dena. It was in full force last week. Still have a buzz lingering into this one but I’m feeling it begin to slip away and with lots left to do. Hope you’re days are well, too :)

  5. What a gorgeous silhouette you have! What a good idea for tracking the bumps growth :)

    • Thank you, Michelle. I’m super pleased with this method of tracking growth. Super easy, quick and hides those little “imperfections” :)
