DIY Vase Painting

This could very well be THE simplest paint project in existence.  I got this idea from the Nate Berkus Show on NBC 4 (click HERE to find out where it’s airing near you!).  I record this series since I can’t possibly guarantee I’ll be sitting in front of my TV everyday at 3pm.  I have to say, I LOVE his show.  Not only his he easy on the eyes, but man he’s got so many great design/decor ideas and a lot of great segments having to do with gardening, refurbishing, cooking/recipes and fashion.  Check it out.

This project is this simple…

I used acrylic paint.  To be honest, I’m not even sure if that’s the right kind.  There’s a chance this stuff will come off if I were to put water in here for a flower, so fake flowers it is.  I was so eager to try this project that I didn’t care about that little detail, I just wanted to try it out ASAP!

Pour the paint in the vase (no, not the whole bottle…just enough to coat the inside).  Pick the vase up, turn it upside down and watch the paint drip down, coating the inside.  Rotate it, turn it side to side to get an even coat.

Flip the vase upside down and let the excess paint drip back into the paint tube.  Set the vase upside down on a paper plate or newspaper and let any extra paint run off into it.  It may take a day or so to dry, depending on how wide/narrow the neck/opening is.

And there you have it, a new pop of color to add to any space in your house.  Such a great idea to bring out certain colors in your house that may be lacking.  I recommend using cheap vases or finding some for real cheap at thrift stores or garage sales.

BTW… you should add a Pinterest tag to your blog, so people can pin stuff and be tracked back. I'm going to pin this to my craft board. I'll come back and link it in case you want to share.
