Okay so this post (and giveaway) have been a long time coming. I’ve been sitting on this gem for months, now. Finally, after the headache of the holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas) is over, I can make the time for this true treasure of a keepsake. I’ve got some time off (thank God!) from work and can give it my undivided attention (of course, during Mia’s nap/bedtimes).
I can’t tell you just how excited and thankful I am for having been contacted by Cécile from la belette rose! After checking out her website and blog (which has tons more examples of her work), I was an instant fan and didn’t have to think twice about agreeing to work with her to share her unique and charming products and talents. She is an artist, working and living out of France. I’m most impressed by her graphic design skills in turning a photo of a loved one (or yourself) into a digital work of art. Here are my personal favorite portraits she’s created:
I had recently finished a mini photo session with my daughter, Mia, before I was introduced to la belette rose. It was a no-brainer for me as to which portrait of Mia to send her (see immediate image below). That’s how it works, by the way. You choose a clear, good quality photo of your loved one and you email it to Cécile along with any specifications you’d like her to incorporate into the final product. For example, I mentioned that I didn’t have a preference on colors (she’s the artist, I trust her taste) but that I like the look of a splash of color in the background rather than a full, solid color. I also requested that Mia’s eyes be blue and that I didn’t want any skin color added.
Cécile then sent me 2 rough drafts (digital copies) and I decided on this one:
I am head over heels, in love with how this turned out! That’s my little bug right there. That’s perfectly her. With receiving a digital file, I can have the image printed where ever I’d like and the size that suits me best. That’s just what I did, I got a 16″ x 20″ print, found a frame to fit it and nailed it inside my baby girl’s bedroom to appreciate everyday.
(I know this has nothing to do with the subject of this post, but the curtains….yeah, temporary. I’ve been waiting to come across the perfect pattern and texture and just haven’t found it yet)
