Matilda Jane Clothing Review {and GIVEAWAY}

If you’ve been a faithful follower of mine, you may be thinking that you’re having a moment of deja vu. That’s because you kind of are. This, in fact, is another review (and giveaway) for the very unique and cheerful clothing company, Matilda Jane. You can see my last review/giveaway here. Btw, we still love and wear that outfit and have received a number of compliments on it. It’s a favorite.

mj2wLooking back on my review, I summed up all the greatness of Matilda Jane pretty darn well. After receiving our latest outfit, everything I said still holds true. Let’s double-check…

  • Charming fabrics and patterns? Check!
  • Colorful and expressive pieces? Check!
  • Top quality materials? Check!
  • Mixable, matchable pieces throughout their collection? Check!
  • Allows kids to be kids with their playful quality, rather than recreate trends from a more mature crowd? Check!

That last point is my favorite one. I truly do appreciate just how wholesome and fresh their collection is. All parents (including me) say how time flies by so fast and how their little ones grow in the blink of an eye. It’s true! Now, why would I want to speed up that process any more by dressing my kid in older fashions for “tweens” or in the latest adult fashion trends? Matilda Jane does a wonderful job at capturing that young, innocent and imaginative spirit of a child in their clothing. Thank you, thank you, thank you for that! mj2 CollageThe outfit you’re looking at here comes from their “Paint by Numbers” collection: Turtledove Knot Top, Gallery Leggings, Stippling Tee

Okay, so I’ve got to be honest. When I first received our package of goodies, I took a quick look at the 3 pieces and just fell in love with them…and shoved them back in the box so I could get back to whatever I was doing at the time. Well, my mom was over a day or two later and checked out the clothing as well. She, too, thought all were so adorable. My mom is much more attentive to detail than I am and so she noticed that there were no buttons on the straps to the top. I looked it over and saw there there indeed, were no buttons at the ends of the straps to insert into the “button holes” that were present on the front of the top! I was about to write a kindly worded email to MJ, informing them that someone dropped the ball and forgot to sew buttons…but something told me to check the website first to take a closer look at what this top should look like. Well! I’ve never seen nor heard of a “knot top” before and that’s exactly what this top is. The straps are to be fed through the “button holes” in the front and then a knot is to be tied to keep them in place. Whaaaaaat??? I felt like the biggest dork and was relieved at the same time. I get it. GREAT idea! That means I can adjust the length of the straps to fit her as she grows. Genius :)
