I don’t know what’s getting into me, but lately I’ve been failing miserably at playing “photographer.” Not only am I slacking on the picture taking at home and throughout the week, but even on special occasions (friends’ birthdays & holidays). I spent a lot of time this Easter, cleaning up our house and preparing for our family to have Easter dinner here and I hardly took any pictures of the final product. I also only captured ONE cute picture of Mia that day with her Uncle Chris. I guess you’ll have to take my word for it when I say that Easter dinner (which was our very first time hosting a large family dinner, btw) was a success. We had 18 people (including ourselves) in attendance and everyone had nothing but positive things to say about their time here. Whew!
I didn’t have an extra table cloth so I used wrapping paper to make a table runner. I also have been saving Mia’s used baby food jars for mini flower vases and to hold tea light candles for parties and get-togethers.
I made deviled eggs, carrots and homemade Mac N’ Cheese (Martha Stewart’s recipe…can’t go wrong there) and Dominic roasted a turkey! I’ll be making the mac n’ cheese again at Mia’s 1st birthday so I’ll be sure to snap some step-by-step photos for a recipe post. It was crazy good. Anyways, most guests brought a dish or 2 as well. Let’s see, we had mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, Brussels sprouts, asparagus and ham, their famous green jello, and rolls as part of the main course. Appetizers included crackers, cheese and meat along with some cut up veggies. Dessert included apple pie, coconut pie (which I just realized I didn’t get any of!), rice krispy treats, strawberries and cool whip. There wasn’t a bad dish served that evening, EVERYTHING was delicious. Thank you to all who contributed and for such great company.
I’d also like to thank Aunt Darlene and Aunt Kaye for their generous one year anniversary gifts! Yup, about a week ago Dominic and I celebrated one year of marriage. We married at a court house and never had an actual wedding with guests or a reception, so we missed out on wedding gifts :( These were our first “wedding” gifts we have received so they’re extra special to us and very much appreciated. Thank you.
Now, since I didn’t do an “egg hunt” for Mia and I didn’t get many photos of her, I decided to try again the next afternoon in our backyard. This kid refused to look at the camera for 99% of the photos I took. She’s all over the place now that shes’ walking. She didn’t sit still for more than 10 seconds and was constantly taking off in the opposite direction that I was facing. What a stinker!
She can get up all by herself, now.
She found the little snacky puffs that the Easter Bunny left behind inside the eggs.
Look at those leg chunks!
Mia loves playing fetch with her dogs.
Rancho towers over her and yet she has no fear and loves him dear.
Next year, I’m hoping she’ll be more interested in an “egg hunt.” Mommy will also do a better job of creating a really fun one, too. I think she’s a little young this time around.
I hope all of you had a fabulous Easter holiday. Please toss us your VOTE (once, daily) before ya go. Only 2 clicks gets us closer to the top of the baby blog rankings. No prize, just much desired publicity.
THANKS.
I see nice looking food dishes out there. Hope you had a great easter.
