“A portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2013.”
This is a comparison between my mother and my daughter, at similar ages to each other.
My daughter, Mia, turned 16 months old a week ago and I created a mini photo session with her in a vintage, baby blue dress (all photos can be seen here) right in our backyard.
A day or two later, I showed the photos to my mom. While viewing the one above, she instantly thought of her own baby photo that she has displayed in a frame in her living room. Ever since I could understand English, I’ve been hearing people tell me how much I look like my mother. Now, everywhere I go with my daughter I’ve been hearing how much she looks like me. It goes without saying that my daughter resembles my mother.
After looking the two over, we rummaged through a few of her old photo albums in search of a photo of me from that age. We weren’t very successful but I know she has boxes of photos put away somewhere and I’ve got an itch to dig them out with the hope of finding more similarities between my daughter and my childhood.
Grandma, consider this your warning: I will be invading your garage in the near future.
