The 52 Project 2014: 24/52

the 52 project2“A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2014. My goal for the year: highlight her most recently acquired and/or favorite skill, activity, or milestone, in hopes to document her blossoming personality and mind as well as her physical appearance. ” See my series HERE.

Mia meets Mr. Bubble

I’ve done it again! This is the 3rd time now in this weekly portrait project that I’ve posted a similar photo than the same week last year (see HERE and HERE). Unintentionally (I swear). These coincidences have given me an idea to purposely post similar portraits from the previous year each week. At least when I participate in this project again next year in 2015. Kinda cool? We’ll see.

Anyways, back to this week. We’ve got a game changer here, folks. Mia has been introduced to the greatness that is, an official bubble bath. We’ve used her soap in the past to create some bubbles. But nothing compares to the foamy and seemingly endless amount of bubbles that Mr. Bubble creates. Mia knows this new bottle of bubbles well, and is quick to grab it whenever we enter her bathroom for a bath. On this particular afternoon, she could hardly contain her excitement.

This makes me think of the comedic movie Knocked Up where Paul Rudd’s character (side note* Paul Rudd is my total celeb crush!) says to Seth Rogan’s character, “I wish I liked anything as much as my kids like bubbles.” And also of Finding Nemo when the yellow fish in the tank flips out over the bubbles in the treasure chest and the sea star says, “He likes…bubbles.”

Okay now just for fun, here is the portrait from last year’s week 24 in 2013 of Mia’s very first bath tub picture.

  1. I love this phot and the idea of doing a similar shot next year. I will have to remember that, this is my first year doing the project 52. We received Mr.Bubbles in our Easter basket this year and my little one is crazy about them!!!

    • Yeah, I may have to really give that a try next year. Maybe it won’t turn out to be as cool as I think it will, but we’ll see. Thanks for commenting :)

  2. What a cutie! Love that expression. Really cute idea to compare from year to year.

  3. Hi Misty! Thank you so much, for including me in your favorites! Mia is a doll! I love that you are comparing her pictures from last year to this year. This is my first year participating in the 52 project so I’m sure it will be cool to look back at her old photos next year.

  4. Such a joyful shot, so beautiful!

  5. hi there! thanks for loving my portraits! Mia is sooo cute and this week portrait is just lovely! your idea of taking similar pictures of the last year is very interesting! i remember someone, a couple of years ago, that took pictures of the kiddos always in the same corner of their room sitting on the same chair… it was strange but gave you the good prospective of how they have grown! ;)
