The 52 Project 2014: 29/52

the 52 project2“A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2014. My goal for the year: highlight her most recently acquired and/or favorite skill, activity, or milestone, in hopes to document her blossoming personality and mind as well as her physical appearance. ” See my series HERE.

Mia: The marine life lover.

This was taken at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. It’s been almost 2 whole years since our first family trip there when Mia was only 4 months old (and full of chubby leg rolls). I just love how much she loved this place, probably because it’s one of my favorite places to visit. Good thing we bought a season pass while we were there.

I posted all about our trip in full, check it out HERE. What made this trip even sweeter is that it’s an activity from our summer bucket list. Oh, and Mom…before you say anything, Mia’s dress was wrinkle-free before we left the house. This is just what happens after a 40 minute drive, buckled in a car seat.

Okay now just for fun, here is the portrait from last year’s week 29 in 2013 when we took Mia to the beach for the very first time. See post HERE.

  1. This photo is really striking. The combination of the warm yellow of her dress against that strong hue of blue are really perfect :) Beautiful. x

  2. Goodness girl, thank you for those sweet words <3

Loving those colors… Deep gorgeous blue's and such a cute dress…
Enjoy it while you can, you know – dressing up your girl in the cutest little things.
Now we're at the point in this house, where my girl tells ME what she wants me to wear (if we leave the house together, you know – she can't get embarrassed of me) hahahaha… But am I listening? That's a totally different matter ;)

Also, life is going so fast these last weeks, I doesn't have time for – anything…
Can't wait until we are all moved in and things can settle down a bit

    Until then

    • I’ve been looking forward to, for a long time now, being able to dress up a little girl every day. Seriously, so much fun. I’m most definitely NOT looking forward to the day she starts calling the shots on her wardrobe. I may cry on that day. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. So glad for you two, getting yourselves finally settled into your own space. A serious congrats to you :)

  3. Love that aquarium picture! I always get excited to bring my camera there… :) xo, Sarah @movingeastonwest

    • Same here, Sarah. It’s such a great place to strengthen your eye for lighting and how to adjust. I mean, I was changing my settings all over the place between the dark rooms, lit rooms, blue rooms from all the water and then the bright sun outside. Keeps you on your toes, that’s for sure. Thanks for the comment.

  4. I love everything about this picture, the view, her hands on the glass and her gorgeous yellow dress! What a great idea to include the photo from last year. x

    • Such great compliments…keep em coming! Sincerely, thanks for the kind words. This photo is one of my favorites from our day there. And that dress…it was a consignment sale find for only $5 or $6. What a steal. I’ll be sure to pay your blog a visit soon as well, and return the comment love :)

  5. Such a fun shot. And I love her dress!

    • Thanks, Jessica. I actually scored this dress from a consignment sale for about $5 or $6! It’s one of my favorites. I appreciate the love, girl :)

  6. Thank you for including me in your favourites!
I love that you include last year’s photo…such a great idea…it is amazing to see how much little ones change over the course of twelve months!

    • Hey Mother Down Under, my pleasure! That portrait is so sweet and simple and pure joy. I love comparing our portraits between both years. You’re right, so much change in such a short period of time. Slow down :( Thanks for your comment!
