The 52 Project 2014: 32/52

the 52 project2“A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2014. My goal for the year: highlight her most recently acquired and/or favorite skill, activity, or milestone, in hopes to document her blossoming personality and mind as well as her physical appearance. ” See my series HERE.

DSC_0721-2Mia and her “tuba”.

That’s right, she calls her little Dora inner tube a “tuba” and I think that’s as adorable as it gets.

She’s been practicing her swimming skills in the pool (mostly with Daddy) but would much rather lounge in her “tuba”, kick back and …kick. She’s finally figured out how to gain motion in the water through kicking her feet on the surface of the water which is so satisfying to watch. Progress. Mobility. More independence. Proud parents.

She’s pretty much glued to her “tuba” when we swim. It’s given her a lot more freedom in the pool. Of course, Daddy Dom or I am sitting poolside and very vigilant or are in the pool with her but when she’s tubing it, we don’t have to be right by her side. She actually prefers that we’re not. She loves to stand on the stairs and jump into the water. Lately, she started jumping in from the edge of the pool! That was exciting to see for the first time. It’s amazing just how much energy she has, being able to repeat this same action over and over and over again. This makes for an excellent nap session afterwards so keep on jumping, my little fish.

Okay now just for fun, here is the portrait from last year’s week 32 in 2013 from Venice Beach, CA.

  1. Thanks for the linkup! I’m envious of our summer weather although it’s getting close to Spring here and hopefully we Aussies will be back in the pool soon too.

  2. OMG! I am dying over your daughters high waisted skirt! The cutest thing.

  3. I love the perspective of this photo. And what girl doesn’t like lounging around in the pool in a “tuba”?! I’m visiting from the link up at Practising Simplicity.

  4. Adorable! It’s so great that she’s independent in the water. And I think I’ve said it before…but I’m so jealous of your pool. But it’s pretty impractical to have a pool here where we could only use it 3 months of the year. :P
