The 52 Project 2014: 38/52

the 52 project2“A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2014. My goal for the year: highlight her most recently acquired and/or favorite skill, activity, or milestone, in hopes to document her blossoming personality and mind as well as her physical appearance. ” See my series HERE.

Mia: Soap obsessed!

Forget bath toys. This bath time beauty just wants her soap. Every bath time, without fail, she spends her time handling the soap bottle to release its contents into her tiny little hands. She’ll then rub her hands together and will either spread the soap onto her body (she’s learning to wash herself) or she’ll rub the soap onto one of her bath toys. She’s a cleaning machine, just like her grandma. Here, Mia’s actually bathing at Grandma’s house and is handing the soap to Grandma so she can open it for her. Mia has trouble sometimes with the snap cap.

At home, we use a soap bottle that has a pump. It was only a few weeks ago when it was impossible for her to figure out how to pump it to get any soap out. Now, she’s mastered the skill. She loves using the soap to build up a lather on my legs. She rubs the soap up and down the entire length of my leg and then rubs it between my toes and on my feet. After she’s had enough, she gets her cup and pours it over my legs, rinsing off the soap. My little in-house masseuse.

What about a bar of soap? Well that kind burns if she gets it into her eyes so we don’t use that in the tub just yet. But…a few days ago she spotted a few new bars of soap that I had just bought at the store (still in their packaging) and she swiped them. The next day, I found them in her “wallet” (a small make-up bag). “My soap!” she says, whenever her wallet has been misplaced. This kid may need a soap intervention.

Okay now just for fun, here is the portrait from last year’s week 38 in 2013 where I dabbled a bit on slowing down and being present.

38 week 2013

And, yes! I’m officially caught up with this weekly portrait project!

  1. Gorgeous lighting in this photo

  2. Ha, this is funny. Only cause I have a son who is moisteriser obsessed. Hand cream, foot cream, body cream. You name it he slathers it on. We Joke he is going to have the softest skin ever! At least our kids will be soft and clean

    • That’s awesome. Mine does the same with lotion if she gets her hands on it. We have to keep them well hidden in the house. But yes, could be worse.
