If you’re ever looking for an easy, quick and affordable way to spend part of your day, I’d have to recommend Descanso Gardens (if you live in/near the Verdugos). It’s beautiful, scenic, peaceful and makes you feel like you’re far from the city. My mom and my family have a year membership there (which is definitely affordable) and we frequent this location together whenever we need to get out of the house or when a beautiful day is upon us. Here are some photos of one of our most recent trips, all 3 generations accounted for. On that note, I’d like to take a hot minute to just say that I’m so thankful that my mom is so close by and has such a close relationship with my daughter. I feel lucky and my Mia is lucky to not only have Grandma in her life but to have my mom as a grandma. My mom is a pretty amazing woman and I look forward to watch her relationship with my daughter continue to grow. I never had a close relationship with a grandparent so this is very new to me and makes it all the more important to me to make sure I keep a strong connection between them.
You know what I see below? I see some great “backdrops” for future photo sessions! That’s right, I did a little location scouting while I was there.
This next visit was the first time I took Mia to the gardens by myself. It’s definitely more difficult to do when you have a 15 month old who’s walking/running around and doesn’t listen to a dang word you say. She walks in the opposite direction we’re headed, she’ll veer off the path and into bushes where I have to squeeze myself into to grab her and she tries to climb into koi ponds and bodies of water to get a closer look at the fish. She’s a little scoundrel, she is.
Puh-lease don’t forget to VOTE for our blog (once, daily)! Think of it as a “tip” for our “tip jar” to help us stay at the top of the rankings over at Top Baby Blogs.
