Toddler Eats: Breakfast

This is the first of a new series of posts that will include a photo or two of what Mia (my two year old) eats.

This subject is nothing new to the mama blogging world, but it’s new here. It’s also not the most intriguing series but I know that I always take note of what other kids are eating when I see posts like these. I like to get more ideas on meals and snacks to feed my daughter. I tell ya, when it’s time for her to eat my mind is pretty fried from everything else that our day entails so I often find myself drawing a blank on what I should/can make for her. So, seeing what other parents prepare for their littles is helpful and inspires me in my own kitchen.

Here are 4 reasons that make this photo egg-celent.

1) I scored these plastic plates from a thrift store for 50 cents a piece.

2) Our eggs come straight from our own chickens (we’ve got 19 and a rooster). Never going back to store bought.

3) Waffles (pinned recipe here) are left-over from Sunday’s delicious, homemade batch (which I store in the freezer for future use).

4) One plate for Mama and one for Mia. I love having breakfast with my mini-me.

  1. Yay! i love series like this! My little guy is just starting to get into “toddler eats” so I’m always looking for great ideas!

    • Oh, cool! Here I am thinking that this series will be lame and skipped over. Glad to hear that some are as interested as I am with posts like these. Thanks for taking the time to comment, Anne :)

  2. Fantastic, I love toddler eating posts! As you know, I love sharing my recipes I make for Berlin & I love getting ideas from other mamas! I’m so jealous you have chickens, I’ve been wanting to get some for ages now!

    • Oh goodness, girl. Your food posts will put mine to shame, for sure. You’re so creative with your meals, I’m usually impressed that your daughter actually eats them! You know, mine probably would too…I just don’t introduce a lot of new dishes. I’m hoping this series will get me experimenting more and getting her to try new things more often. And I have my husband to thank for chickens. I never would have even considered them if he weren’t so into the idea. He had them before we even started dating, so they were part of the package deal I guess. They’re pretty great :)

  3. This is wonderful! I’m pretty sure if I did a series like this it would not be very interesting because McDonald’s and Kraft Mac&Cheese would appear ONE too many times… we are just in such a bad season of life food wise which is surprising for me because healthy food used to be very important to me. This breakfast looks amazing, I’ll take a plate please!

    • Well, Gillian. I’m definitely not posting what she eats everyday! We don’t eat fast food often but sometimes her meals are so random and uninspiring, not worth a post. Don’t worry, we don’t always have a picture perfect dish over here. But, I’ll definitely share the foods I took more time on and put more thought into :) Thanks for commenting!
